What are DRL's? Why they are used?

Nowadays,When we look at newer generation cars,we can notice a bright line type thing running in the headlight of the car.
What is that?,This question gets common when you look at such light.
Actually,They are called DRL (Daytime-Running-Lights).
The purpose of DRL's is to increase visibility of your car,So that your car can be visible to others.
Then what does headlight do?
I know, this question must be fluctuating in your mind.
Headlight can actually make the other person blind because of the strong beam, and can cause dangerous accidents on road.
The actually use of the DRL's is to make your vehicle visible to other people's.
DRL's are also mandatory for all the two wheeler vehicles in India since April of 2017.
Daytime Running Lights is usually automatically switched on once the ignition is on.Other vehicles may switch the daytime running lamps on when the parking brake is released or when the vehicle is shifted into gear. A daytime running lamp emits a brighter light when the headlamps are not turned on and its brightness will be dimmed slightly in conjunction with the headlamps being turned on.
